Accountant want to be a NurseRating: (votes: 0) Do you know anything about nursing, besides this vague idea that it's a stable job (hint: if you have actually been reading this forum for a long time, you'll know it isn't necessarily)? Comment: Learning about nursing and health science in general has nothing to do with the working conditions of a nurse. You really need to learn what a week of shifts is all about before embarking on a nursing career. Do you know any nurses?Comment: moved to the Nursing Career forumComment: go for your CPA. You would make around the same amount of money for a much more pleasant work setting and working hours. I don't know how unstable being an accountant is, but nursing is pretty saturated.Comment: If you're from California, you really need to do some really intensive research re school options, but most especially, the JOB MARKET for Cali nurses. Think long & hard about nursing after you've done your research - I don't think you'll find nursing to be your answer.Comment: you'll fit right in with the majority of people who want to be nurses. they don't like it... but it's stable and pays bills. the problem with the job market in california is that they will not hire new graduates. i emphasize NEW... HOWEVER, there are hundreds of job posting that seek experienced nurses. experienced as in... 1+ year(s). read between the lines. good luck.Comment: Hello all,Thank you for your input. I know plenty of nurses and they all range from OR nurse, Med-surge, ER, Home Health nurses etc. I've been doing my research and so far all nurses that I have come across have good things to say about nursing like how it's rewarding etc. I've even spoke with nurses that I did not know and they all enjoyed it. As far as getting a job, some of my friend nurses said they can get me in once I graduate or pass my NCLEX. I did have a few nurse friends who said it was hard for them to find a job but they eventually found one.. I will start classes in the fall! Very excited. I really have no interest to get my CPA. I think taking this leap and changing careers during this time in my life is great. Thanks for all your comments.
