Taking the reins from your preceptorRating: (votes: 0) I have been a preceptor, and obviously I don't condone workers who are irreverent. However, I do give a lot of room for individual problem solving and taking initiative. I enjoy teaching, but I have limited experience. I am training under a preceptor in a new hospital. I know it depends largely on who the preceptor is--some never relinquish control (ugh), others do so offhandedly(hard to believe). Thank you very much, enjoy your weekend! B Try setting up mutual expectations (i.e., as a preceptee my expectations of you as a preceptor are.... likewise, what are your expectations of me?) Also, take a couple of minutes and make a plan for the beginning of each shift. Clarify what your preceptor expects you to accomplish with (and without) assistance. |
