VA and new grads

Does anyone know if the VA hospital system hires new grads? Just curious.

Yes, and some VA's have a new grad residency program, also. And, both ADN and BSN new grads are hired. However, hiring is much slower right now compared to years back. But, there is a cohort of new grads just finishing the residency program very soon.

yes they do hire new grads , i was hired on 3yrs ago as a new grad. also look into there edrp program that helps pay back your school loans and apply early when you get hired on.

It depends on your location, I'd imagine. I was told flat-out by a nurse recruiter at the VA in Philadelphia about six months ago they were "not hiring any new graduates at this time."

It really does depend on your location. We have a new grad with us in our MICU. I do know of several in other areas of the hospital. Put your application in anyway. It takes VA a while to process applications and who knows? A position may open up.Keep checking on VA careers website.
