extremely dissapointed

So I applied for a job and was happy to get an interview. However I had to drive 600 plus miles for the interview. I thought the interview went well however halfway through my 600 mile drive back I get an email stating that my application was not considered since the job had been cancelled. I got this email 4 hours after my interview. I am extremely dissapointed. I think its fair to say that am done looking for right now since I still have a job. I guess a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush

A good tact to take.Well, it's obvious that you have backup plan with your bird in the hand. And possessing that bird in the hand will allow you to continue to seek those two in a bush. Send an email to the person you interviewed with. I had an interview a few weeks ago and that same day recieved a "sorry you were not selected" email. Then I got a call for a second interview, when I mentioned the email he said it must have been an HR error.

Am I missing part of the original message? How did you find out that "then I got a call for the second interview.....an HR error"?

It can also happen if you apply for more than one position at the same hospital. It happened at my current job. Ten minutes after getting off the phone with HR accepting the job I got an email that I was no longer being considered for the position. But after closer examination it was for the other position I had applied for not the one I was hired for.

That sucks. However, it might be smart to reconsider looking for a job while you still have one. It's a lot better to handle rejection when you have a fall back option than it is to get rejected without one.In fact, the whole idea for looking for another job while you are still working is so you can really investigate the options, interview them while they are interviewing you, and, yes, get the inevitable rejection.Good luck!
