red and green pedals of hospital bedRating: (votes: 0) does red pedal mean move down the bed? does green mean move up the bed? thanks. Each bed is going to be different. You need to either ask someone who is familiar with the bed and/or take a closer look at the pedals. Usually they have labels on them. I don't use equipment (even beds) with which I'm not familiar - makes for certain accidents. Comment:

For our bed the red pedal locks the bed wheels and the green pedal unlocks all the wheels. There is also a steer setting in the middle. Our beds have electronic up and down ect. There is a CPR pedal that lowers and lays the bed flat w/o power.

Have you already tried asking coworkers for a demonstration? If that is embarrassing find yourself an unoccupied bed and push the red and green pedals and see what they do.

There are a million different beds, so I agree you need to ask someone who is familiar with those particular beds that you are dealing with. However ... generally speaking, the green unlocks the wheels (green = go) and the red pedal locks the wheels so they can't move, like a brake (red = stop).

For most of the bed that I have dealt with in the past. The way I remember it is that....red means stop, locking the pedals and the green means go, unlocking the pedals. Hope this helps.

the 'red and 'green' pedals on one of the types of beds we have are on the brake/ steer/ free rocker for the wheels and castorsred down - green up = brakes green down red up = free wheeling + castoring he middle position is 'steering' castorsbut i've also used trolleys where the red pedal was to lower the bed base and the green to raise it and the brake pealds were black. you should have the operating instructions and manuals for the beds you use somewhere on your unit.

Quote from dajulienessI think you are the only one I've heard of who even said the phrase, "read the instructions"The instructions go out the door with the box it came in. To the OP- I second the poster who suggested trying it on an empty bed. Don't try it on an occupied bed lol. For all you know it might flip upside down.

on old manual beds, green pedals normally mid point under the bed will raise the bed but you need to pump it with your foot , red will lower the bed just hold your foot on it.ask a co-worker how to work the bed.

In my ER we also have a "catapault" button at the head of the bed. Red and white bullseye, if anyone's interested.
