Nurse Licensure Compact

Can someone please break this nurse licensure compact thing down to me? I've read the information online at the ncsbn.org website, but it's still a bit confusing. I reside in a compact state, but I have a single-state license because my primary state of residence for legal purposes is a non-compact state. Do I understand the info. correctly?..If I choose to become a legal resident of my current residing state (which is a compact state), and obtain a multi-state license, then I should be able obtain a multi-state license and practice across state lines with other compact states without having to move out of my residing state ever right??

We are working on this issue in Florida (Florida is NOT currently part of the compact state agreement). There is a detailed explanation on nurses4flcompact.org. FYI, if you live on the state line and travel to work in another state you are covered BUT if you actually move, even to another compact state, you will need to transfer your license to your new "home" state. Either way, it will be much easier to have the multi-state license.
