Nurse studied medicine but has problem passing M.D. boards

Hello,

I know a nurse that graduated with her M.D. in 2007 but still can't pass her medical boards. What can she do with her M.D. degree if she keeps failing? Can she sit take the test to become a nurse practitioner? That is basically her question.
