Question about best route to become an employee of IHS

Hi. I was wondering if someone with experience in IHS could answer a question for me. In your opinion which would be a better way to go about employment in a Native American hospital and why: become a comissioned officer with the US Public Health Service, become a civil servant, or be hired directly through the tribe?Thanks for your input.
What department are you talking about? Do you have a specific location in mind? If not, I would suggest starting out as a traveler or contractor and trying out a few different facilities as many of them are very remote.. You might not like it, also that is also the best way to get hired on as a Permanent employee.
