PA work under an NP

From what I understand, a physician assistant must work under a doctor. But, I was wondering, can a PA work under an nurse practitioner?

No. NPs and PAs are both mid-level providers. The best analogy I can come up with is it being like requiring an associate degree RN to work under a bachelors degree RN. In the end, PAs and NPs do pretty much the same thing... they just have a very different route to getting there.
