Hi everyone,
Well i had a phone interview today which must have gone well because she asked me in tomorrow for a in pperson interview, thing is it has happened so fast i am not prepared at all.
I really want this job as i did a lot of my clinical rotations there and know the system
Please give me any tips and i would love it if someone could give me any ideas of what questions to ask them.
Thankyou
Just do what you did in your phone interview. Smile, exude confidence, and simply relax. What I do is practice answering common interview questions since I tend to jumble over my words at times. lol. You should do fine, they must like you to call you in so know that chances are high that you may get hired. Good luck and keep us posted !

Thanks so much for the nice words.I am so nervous but i'm thinking i will be myself and hope for the best.Another concern i have is what to wear. i was planning on black pants small heels and a white blouse. don't really want to rush out and buy a suit.

The outfit you described should be fine. Just be comfortable too because sometimes employers like to give tours of the facility. I usually wear a nice blouse, skirt , and low heel. I wear light make-up and neatly dressed hair. Just a professional look should suffice. The best accessory is a smile in my opinion.

Ask them questions about their facility and their unit. You should already know a little about the facility before going in. If they are not already a magnet hospital, ask what they are currently doing to work towards it, and as a new grad and new nurse, what would you be able to do to help them. Ask them if they encourage specialty certification, and if they offer classes and financial assistance to help employees obtain their certification. Are many people in this unit members of their specialty professional organization, and do they actively go to monthly meetings? Does the hospital and unit have shared governance? How active is your unit involved in the hospital wide shared governance? How would you be able participate in shared governance as a new nurse? Does the hospital have any exciting plans for expansion, renovation, any special new programs? Does your unit actively participate in the community by volunteering? etc.

Be ready to answer why YOU are the best candidate over others and why you want to work in that facility. Good luck!

Specifically do NOT ask about wages, benefits, vacation, etc. Those questions are only appropriate when directed to HR in response to a formal offer... and even then, unless you're going to attempt to negotiate (which is not wise in the present environment), I'd hold them until you show up for your first day of orientation.

Think about your background (work or education), if you speak any other languages and just what sets you apart and like mentioned above, what your strengths are. Also think about a few situational questions like "tell me about a time when....." I hear they've been asking these lately. Prepare a few answers, relax, be honest and you will do fine!

to be honest with you i think that when you say be yourself is good because thats is what i did today on the phone and it went well. I am hoping that they understand i will be nervous, i so want this job it is the right fit for me.Wish me luck and thanks for all the help

So i went for my interview last week. I think it went well but can't be sure. I met with the director of a floor that i had done 2 rotations of my clinicals on so the 2 nurses that were also present i had met before. The interview lasted about 35 minutes and i was drenched with sweat hahaha. So after the director walked me down to HR told them to do a background check and said i'd know in a few days if i had the job.Anyway it is now over a week later and i haven't heard anything. They did check my work references on monday of this week.I want to call and find out either way but people tell me to wait till Friday..Please give me any advice you can....
