Help I took a percoset and Im a new Hire!

Hi I need your advice
Today I was offered a position at a Dr Office and I was given a saliva drug screening (rapid test) and I passed, but i had to give blood today and i didnot ask what it was for becuase i didnt think anything of it. Im just a little worried becuase on saturday evening(today is monday) I took one of my husband generics for percocet for this unberable pain i had in my back. I dont know if shes doing a blood test for drugs or something else. I just wanted to know if anybody knows the average half life of oxycodone I did some reaserch and the internet says it can be an average of 4 -5 hours but im unsure and also do you guys know what employers test for when they do a blood test. I'm so nervous and need some advice

FWIW: NEVER take anything you don't have a prescription for. In most jobs you will be subject to random drug (urine) tests. with that much time interval you should be all right this time but learn from this. I've never had to have blood work for a job only a urine screen, so not sure what they were looking for. Possibly cholesterol etc, due to health insurance costs? I've heard this might be in the near future but not sure about if any place does this now.

Why oh why would you take a med not prescribed for you? Especially a narc.

The blood is probably for vaccine titers.But, yeah, like everyone else said, don't do that again. No script, no med.

Do all of you mean to tell me you have never taken a pain pill that was in your family's medicine cabinet if you were in severe pain? I would never ever advise doing this on the regular, but come on.

Nope, never have taken anyone else's meds. Before I was a nurse I was afraid to (LOL) and after I became a nurse...well, I worked too hard to get my license to give it away by being foolish.

Of course I have. But if I were in the position of trying to find a job I wouldn't do it. I have anxiety issues and take klonopin prn when my regular meds aren't cutting it. When my scrip ran out around the time I was looking for a job, I had to go without until I got a new scrip because the last thing I wanted was to pop for benzos when I didn't have a current scrip for it, even though my mom offered to give me one of hers. The rest of my family (all not in the healthcare profession) trade prescriptions like baseball cards. Were I not looking for a job or still in the hiring phase, I probably would have accepted. I wouldn't during a time like that though.To the OP, no idea what they might have been looking for, but I wish you the best of luck!

Hoping your blood test was for titers. I wouldn't think they would do two different tests for a drug screen with financial considerations and all. God I hope I am right!

I have to say that I'm excited that when I next need to job hunt, there's a chance at a saliva drug screen. I used to not have a problem, but I've gotten to where I just cannot pee on demand!
