After the fact I failed my NCLEX I got a call for a job interviewRating: (votes: 0) ![]() Call the manager and tell that person that you didn't pass the NCLEX. They will find out one way or the other and it's better if you're the one who gets to clear the air first. I would see how they respond and maybe they will give you a chance to work as a Graduate Nurse on the floor until you pass the NCLEX and get a license. It is common practice for managers to introduce an applicant for a new nursing position to staff who are working on that day. It doesn't always guarantee that the applicant is hired but getting the second interview, as you stated, is a good sign. Comment:

I can tell you in California you cannot work as a RN once you failed the nclex. Your IP is no longer valid and you are burning your bridges by not telling them.

Oh yes, forgot about the fact that you can not work as a GN once you fail the NCLEX. It's been too long since my early years in nursing, my bad.
Comment:
Yup in NY you also can't work as a GN if you've failed the boards. Concentrate on passing and I bet if they liked you now they will consider you again in the future but you have to be honest TODAY.

Quote from ColleenRN2BI thought you could only work as a GN until you sit for the NCLEX, if you pass, YAY! If not, your GN days are over. Therefore, the OP doesn't have that GN window anymore. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please!!
