Why Dogs Make the Best FriendsRating: (votes: 0) I was just wondering if there was a relationship between pet type, gender and nursing specialty....Post your responses... Last edit by HM2VikingRN on Oct 23, '07 Female, case manager and 2 loveable yellow labs. Labs make wonderful pets, they are gentle, fun, and love everyone & everything. Comment:
Female, ER nurse, 1 male Newfoundland/Border Collie mix & 1 anxiety ridden, female Lab/Doberman mix who have become the substitute children during empty nest syndrome. Used to have a German Shepard which was my husband's "buddy" & felt that the article you provided described him and his relationship with his 'buddy' to a tee.

ER . . . male chocolate lab mix (dd picked him out when she was 7 and she is 18 now and ignores him). Tabby cat that ds picked out. I like animals outside though . . . .no cat and dog "tush" on my furniture or bed. This only happened as I grew up - as a kid, I slept with all my animals. My oldest son's cat had kitties in his bed . . . that was memorable. We've had cats, dogs, a ferret, hamsters, birds, fish, horses, etc. steph

I am particularly interested in the linkage between nurturance and dogs.......I think there are far more dog owners than cat owners on the boards but we shall see...

Female, former NICU nurse, now SAHM. I've always had dogs, never had cats, and have no interest in them. They seem too "aloof". I love an animal who is excited to see me and wants to keep me company. I have a 5 year-old Bouvier (100lb. cattle herding dog). He's calm, loving and gentle, although not very bright!
