some new ideas would be great...Rating: (votes: 0) I suffer from migraines. I have had them for 7 years following a car accident. I have done everything in my power to rid myself. I have been on every med possible. I am allergic to triptans (anaphalix or however you spell it), among others..I used to have to give myself Im injections of DHE 45 3 times a day until my heart reacted to it. I have put myself in counseling to try to see if something mentally was causing them. I was released from counseling because they said I was very mentally healthy. I get weekly allergy shots by my own thoughts to see if it would help. I have cut so many things out of my diet it's crazy. I had surgery for a a deviated septum to try to help. I have cut my hair off. I watch my sleep patterns. I now get botox. It has helped but it is at the end of the 4 months and am getting another round in 2 weeks. I do not drink. I have been diagnosed with a pfo after having a tia during a migraine. the insurance company won't pay to close it until i have a stroke...nice...I was hospitalized once for a week because of a status migraine. My migraines were once 4 times a week. Now through the grace of god and botox they are once every two weeks or there round about. I take ultracet as a rescue med and zofran. I have had to go to the er with the headaches because they get uncontrollable by my meds. I forgot to mention, I had a great neuro for 4 years but moved, After that I had one for a year and a half and "fired" him after finding out he never looked at my previous records, tests (he never ordered any himself), etc. after my TIA. I have a pretty good one now. The er in my SMALL town is wonderful. They know that when I come in, I am in trouble. I also have kidneys stone often...My husband finally got one and asked what hurt worse. I told him that I would take a kidney stone any day over my migraines. I have also had 3 family members die from brain aneurysms. There is some history. I am writing with sunglasses on, having taken now 4 ultracets today and 2 zofrans. I have tried slamming a coke, taking a shower (I would try the bath because that usually helps but I just had 5 procedures on my urinary tract and get sit in a bath yet), I ate but threw it up, etc. etc. I do not want to end up at the er at 2 in the morning. I keep a headache a bp diary. My normal bp is 90/68 it is now 134/96. I was just wondering if there are any tricks that I am missing to help out. I feel so bad when I have to go to the ER. My father was on the board and we are very close with the CEO. I just know how horrible I look and believe me I am a loud puker...it's embarrassing. I also don't want to drag my hubby and 3 of my boys there. I know this is not a place for medical advice but I was just hoping for some tricks of the trade that might help. Thank you for all you do. You are appreciated whether anyone tells you that or not. I hope you have a blessed night. I'm sorry you are going through all of this. (Well, we aren't allowed to give medical advice, but can just give support). Sounds like you have investigated every option. I only get migraines very infrequently (maybe twice a year), but I know how awful they are. With mine, I get the blurred vision, can't really see, and have been lucky enough that they've never happened at work b/c if they did, I wouldn't be able to finish my shift....how can you work if you can't see? lol. Anyway, you mentioned you are a CNA....do you work day or night shift? If you work nights, sounds like you have a very legitimate reason to switch to day shift. No matter how well some people can adjust to night shift, still not as healthy and obviously not natural for the body, and can definitely trigger migraines. Secondly, regarding your PFO. What did your cardiologist say about this? I'm guessing the TIA was caused from the PFO, correct? The TIA was reason enough to pay! Ugh...insurance companies...pay for it after your next stroke. Well, your next stroke could be permanently debilitating, lose ability to speak or do things for yourself....have you fought this with your insurance company? (i'm assuming you have already). But, if not, do everything in your power to fight this; it's not right. We pay for health insurance for a reason (for when we need it), and then when we need it, they don't want to pay. I personally would go up the chain b/c obviously this surgery is too formidable a cost obviously. Anyway, I'm sorry you're going through all of this. If you're finding work is too hard on you lately, sounds like you have a biology degree. Work in a lab or something where you don't have to interact with humans anymore or as frequently (b/c let's face it, while our jobs are rewarding, they can be stressful, and it definitely sounds like you need the lowest stress job possible for your health). If you are not stressed at all where you work, then awesome. Just keep on keeping on. Just what I would do, though.... Comment:
