What does a focused nurses note mean?

Rating:
(votes: 0)

There is 1 part in my assessment page where I put a narrative nurse's note for a mother who had a baby. then there's a part for the focused nurses note for the newborn. what is the focused nurses note??
choose one topic and focus on that only. For instance, is the baby able to suck efficiently? Is elimination normal? Is baby and Mom bonding (might not happen if brand new baby). Breathing. Heart sounds. If Apgar score had any points less than normal, focus on that area

Comment:
Your focus should be on something that was "out of the norm" or a "problem" for this patient. Where you would focus your attention if you were caring for them on the job. Trouble breathing, then focus on that, for example.Wanted to say that I remember something about being criticised for this when in school. Something like I put too much in about giving the bed bath or changing a diaper, every day routine stuff, and did not put a lot into whatever it was that the instructor thought was the important area. (As I recall, there wasn't a lot I could do, or could find, but I accepted the criticism and didn't argue with her). Just thought this is probably the accepted viewpoint of instructors, seeing if you can pick out what is more important and focus your attention there.
