Work/life balance... where to start my career?

I have just graduated and await to finish the paperwork to become an RPN. I am having trouble deciding where I should apply for work, so any advice is appreciated. Here's the dilemma...
It comes down between hospital or home care.
I would really like to work on a maternity floor, so working in a hospital will get me there. I am concerned about the 12 hour shifts.
In home care, I can basically create my own schedule, but it doesn't get me on the path to maternity.
I have a husband on disability and a toddler at home.
I love being a scout leader, playing in a big band, and teaching piano 1 day a week. People from each of these areas are getting anxious and asking if I'll be able to continue once I start working. Each of these are major parts of my life and bring me a lot of joy.
How do I choose???
Friends have said "do what you love", "12-hour shifts suck", "you'll get paid more in a hospital"...
I am also nervous about the fast pace of the hospital. Ah!!! I just keep going back and forth. Do I go for the money, access to internal hospital jobs and pursuing the specialty I've most enjoyed? Do I go for an easier pace, a more flexible schedule, the ability to continue hobbies and volunteering and family activities?
Please help!
I chose work I enjoy, with salary a close second. I would not be happy with my life generally if I hated going to work everyday, and also if I am not making enough money to life comfortably at least. Schedule would be third.

Comment:
In this economy you apply for everything and take the job actually offered to you. Good luck.

Do you need to make a lot of money for your family to be ok? If so, I may apply to a hospital. If money isn't an issue, I would do the home health as you said you have lots of other activities you like to do. If money is no issue maybe you can find a part time hospital job, leaving you with enough time to pursue all your hobbies.
