The Little Things....

29 So where I work....its crazy, insane, frenetic LOL. After 14.5 hours I head to my car and see a note on my window. The CNA that I worked with had left it and it read....."You are a great RN".

Now I disagree with that. I am a baby RN, still learning but getting stronger everyday. Truth is he is a great CNA. I felt like a jerk all day because I just was not able to help him as much as I like to.

The fact that he took the time and effort to leave the note was really meaningful to me. Without him, the day would have been impossible. He is head and shoulders beyond our average CNA. He rocks!!!

Again, thank you to all the wonderful, fantastic CNA's out there. You are the backbone of the floor.
That's really great! I've said many times that I'm envious of those who work with wonderful CNA's because I could NEVER find one in my 11 years of nursing. Competent, yes..but never fantastic.I hope you share with him how much you appreciate him, and how that note touched you.

teamwork is a result of mutual respect. Glad he took the time, like you have done, to acknowledge it.

I love finding little notes like that! We have a DCP at our facility that is absolutely great about leaving them. She has a knack for sensing just when you are down and need a little boost.

Awww As a current CNA, I think I would have always been too shy to tell a nurse that... but next time it happens I totally will!

as a past d.o.n for long term care facilities----c.n.a.'s are the backbone of each nurse and the facility and are under-appreciated. they are the best thank u

It is the little things that make all the difference. Sounds like you are growing into a great nurse!

that was so sweet... one of the CNA's i work with always tells me that I'm a great RN, and she loves working with me... (im new)... Im happy that she feels this way, but I cant figure out for the life of me, WHY she feels this way.. i never have time to help her though I would love to... i dont get it...

The difference between a good night and a bad night is how awesome your CNAs are. It is a fact.

That is so sweet! I see a lot of segregation between some of the nurses and cnas at my work but my thing has always been, I can do anything in the scope of practice of a cna so why not help when I can? If it doesn't interfere with nursing duties I'll help reposition, transfer, change dirty briefs lol! Sometimes a cna needs help and they step out in the hall and tell me to call so and so when I can and I'm like uhm I'm right here.. They appreciate that. I have a few Thayer make my shifts so much easier.
