Question about being audited.

I have never been audited before but had a question about it in case I ever do. If a nurse is audited, is it just for that year or must you produce all your proofs of CEUs from since you were licensed? I have been a nurse for eight years now.

I have all of my current printouts of CUEs organized but there are a probably a couple from the first year or two on the job that I may not be able to find since I moved a couple of times during that period. I always got the number of hours I needed to renew my license but wasn't much good at keeping the printouts organized at the time. I am much more organized now than I was back then. I keep everything together in a binder.

Does anyone know how it works if I do ever get audited? Would I need those CEU printouts from six years ago or only the ones from this current year? Thanks to anyone who can answer.
You need proof of CEU's within current licensure period. My license expires April 30th every 2 yrs on even yr; so my 30 CEU's needed to be obtained from May 2010 thru the day I renewed my license April 20th, 2012.PA BON:What this means is that starting with the October 2011 renewal:

I've been audited once; I just had to produce my CE's from the previous year.

Thanks for your replies. Now I won't worry about those missing papers from six years ago. I am very organized now and would do fine in an audit.

How long should a person keep a record of CEU's? Do you guys just keep them for a couple of years back? Or do you have records of them from years and years ago? When is if safe to get rid of them?

Comment:
I have to keep mine for five years because I have a board certification that is renewed every five years. But for the state, I only need to keep them for the two year period between renewals. Actually, all I need to show the Texas BON now is my updated board certification as that replaces the 20 CE's the state required. So it depends on your BON
