HELP!! Nervous about my needle accident!

Help Everybody, I need your advice.

Okay, I was administering Lovenox to my pt who is in contact precaution for VRE/MRSA and before I had a chance to inject him, he jumped up, and he scared me causing me to accidentally prick myself in the finger. It was a CLEAN needle because I didn't have a chance to inject him but I'm worried I might have contracted MRSA or VRE in my bloodstream? Of course, I filled out every proper paperwork but I'm just worried because now everytime I have a itch, I will think it's a MRSA rash.

Forgot to mention: this was two days ago. I don't think it was a deep prick but a little blood did come out. I didn't noticed it till I took off my gown and gloves.

Any ideas?! Last edit by TheOneBillyX on Mar 10, '13
If you washed your hands immediately afterwards, and then went to the ED they should update you. I'm sure you will be fine. I had a needle stick with a dirty needle... the patient didn't have anything thank goodness! The ED Dr. saw how small my stick was, and said it's more likely to transfer something the larger the wound is. Even if the pt I stuck were positive for HIV, the odds were still unlikely d/t how small the stick was.
