Does anyone take medications for anxiety?

I think I have bad anxiety, worrying over the littlest things. I plan on visiting a doctor. does anyone take meds for anxiety and does it affect or help your work?
Are you talking about anxiety during the day or trouble turning it off and sleeping at night? I take hydroxyzine to sleep and it keeps me from staying up all night worrying or thinking about work.
