Knowledgeable Nurses: Base Pulsations

I was looking at some fob watches in the middle of the night, because I think lapel watches for nurses are so great. Anyway, I came across some with a "base 30 pulsations" along the rim of the watch. I think I figured it out, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong. You just count 30 of the patients heart beats starting at the beginning of the scale and wherever the second hand lands is where the HR is.

You got it. Your other choice is to count for fifteen, or twenty, or thirty seconds and multiply. Some folks find that challenging, though.
