post ICU

Hello!

I am a cna and just got an offer for my first hospital job. It is in the post icu and id like to know what type of patients come come through this area and about how long they stay. Will I be able to perform any special duties or is it general cna stuff? Thanks.



I don't know what they mean by post ICU as I have never heard that term. Do they mean a step-down unit for people after ICU, or do you mean a post-op surgical type ICU? In an actual ICU techs do a lot of stocking, assisting with transport, bed baths, etc. If it is more of a step down unit, then you would have more typical tech duties such as I&O, vital signs, baths, assisting with ambulation and feeing pts.
