Why do they give

pepcid to all pregnant women in the labor unit. I know that heartburn is common in pregnancy but I don't understand why they give it while the woman is laboring. I mean is it really necessary to give it at this time. Can't it wait?
We don't where I work, but I can see why.

I never got it with all 5 of mine.
