Non-Invasive Hemoglobin Monitor

This is being trialled in our unit. Anyone have any experience with this?
How accurate have you found the results...
Personally I think it is highly unreliable...
Thoughts....
What is the brand of the monitor? Has it been properly calibrated? And what area of the US are you in?

That is interesting. We have a Masimo portable O2 sat monitor on the unit, but if someone needs to be transported we just hook them up to the AED which has tele, O2, and BP monitoring built in. From what I have read about the Masimo unit, there is about a 1g/dL variation on average vs. having a lab process a sample of blood. Sounds like a great way to spot check Hgb. Keep us informed about how it works out.
