Volunteer Work a Teen Can Do?

Hi, there! I'm a Sophomore in high school and I'm looking at volunteer work I can do at hospitals at the age of 16. There aren't many (2) hospitals within reasonable driving distance daily, there are many clinics I'm sure clinics don't accept volunteers at all though.
Look at the phone book listings for the available hospitals and see if there is a listing for a "volunteer" organization. If not, call the hospital "general info" number and ask. The volunteer organizations will be happy to inform you about the available opportunities. Be aware that you should keep your commitments. The volunteer organization that my daughter worked for told their volunteers that they could be "fired" from volunteering (and thus lose any benefits, such as good references, from their efforts).

You could try nursing homes, too.

You could always check with a local Hospice to get some volunteer hours. They will often let teens be volunteers in certain settings.
