What can a previous hospital employer disclose to another employer's pre-employment inquiry? Are they just limited to dates, salary, job title, and eligibility re-hire or can/do they disclose the reason for seperation?
sparky,There is no limit on what can be disclosed as long as it is truthful. However, many organizations impose their own limitations as part of their risk management program. Even at that, a common question is whether you are 'eligible for rehire'. The answer to that question reveals a lot. Most organizations limit who can disclose information - usually only HR unless you give specific permission for them to contact a previous supervisor - such as listing him/her as a personal reference. If you are worried about something 'coming up', it may be wise just to be truthful in your application and interview process.
