Mistake... now State Board is CallingRating: (votes: 0) Now the state board of nursing is requesting my letter of explanation regarding the events in question. Do I just send them the letter or do I get a lawyer? I feel nauseous over this and am so mad at myself. Call your nursing liability insurance carrier immediately; they will provide a lawyer to help protect your license free of charge. If you don't have your own insurance, most lawyers will at least give you an initial consultation for free (they will let you know if you can or should handle this by yourself, or if you would have a better chance with legal representation). If you're a member of ANA (and sometimes, even if you're not), your state chapter should be able to recommend a lawyer or other resources. I'm sorry this happened to you and wish you the very best.DeLana Comment: Inform your malpractice insurance carrier and seek legal advice.Comment: The BON is not your friend--get a lawyer. Good luck.Comment: I am so sorry you are in this situation. Granted you gave us the short version, but I am wondering if your actions really were grounds for termination? Seems to me like you were just trying to help a friend!
