Have double degrees but need career options...Help please!Rating: (votes: 0) ![]() ![]() In my opinion you should be looking for a bedside staff RN job. Nobody wants to learn from a nurse who has never done the job. Comment: Yes, PMFB-RN, that goes without saying. I should have offered more clarity in my request. My question is which type of care unit will my education and background benefit my patients and me the most. Because I am new to nursing and have not had the opportunity to have clinicals with every specialty unit, I am asking for guidance from more experienced nurses who are knowledgeable about the care needs on various specialty units. I have enjoyed all aspects of nursing in which I have worked during my training. Where are my skills and education of most benefit: med-surg, surgery, post-op, heme/oncology, transplant, etc.? Thank you for your reply.Comment: from what i understand about nursing (I'm not a nurse, just a student), but from what i understand you'd be doing great to just get in where you fit in. A lot of nurses are having a hard time finding a job period, let alone some specialty. If I were u, I'd try to get med-surg to get some basic experience for right now, and then when you become skilled as a nurse worry about the other specialties later. You really wont know until you get in there, research different types of nursing and talk to people who are doing other jobs while you're learning to be a nurse (since you already know how to be a med tech). After a couple of years you'll be set, but right now I don't think it matters...IMHOComment: Quote from crosstrainerYes, PMFB-RN, that goes without saying.
