New Grad here. Can I apply to LTC/LTAC/SNF's while looking for work in hospitals?

As we all know, it's really, really, really, super-de-duper hard for new grads to land that all important first job. I have applied online to all of the major hospitals in my area and followed up by emailing, calling, leaving voicemails, and then going to HR to personally talk to the NR's and drop off my mini professional portfolio hoping to be considered for their new grad positions that start up later this year.

While I wait for an acute care position to open up, is it ok for me to start applying and possibly working in LTC/LTAC/SNF's? I don't want to lose my skills, and I've been researching on here that any nursing experience is better than no experience. I just don't want it to backfire on me in case I do get selected for a new grad program since I've heard some places won't consider you a new grad if you've been working in LTC/SNF's.

Please help! I appreciate any feedback.

P.S. I have my RN, BSN if that even makes a difference?
I was like you a few months back. I accepted a position at an LTACH which I absolutely hate. Not the best place for new grads. But the good thing is that once you add that LTACH to your resume and apply for your dream job you will get that interview. I now have several offers on med-surg and pcu units.
