What do I do to get where I want? How to get Epic certified?Rating: (votes: 0) Additional info I am 25 years old. I have aspergers. I don't want to work for Epic. So, from what I understand on these forums, my only option is to get a hospital/orginization to sponser me from. What is the best place to start? You'll have to be more specific - in which area of EPIC are you seeking certification? There are many different areas, such as clinical, financial, HIM, etc. Normally, 'expert' end users that work for EPIC-using organizations are sent for additional training and then certification. Organizations are required to maintain a certain number of EPIC certified staff, so that is what drives this process. I have never heard of any one just going in cold to become certified and then getting a job... not so say it doesn't happen, just that I haven't heard of it.So, the best path would be to get a job at an organization that uses EPIC and go from there. If you are looking for an educational pathway that would make you more marketable to these organizations, I would advise you to look into any area of Health Informatics or Health Informatics Management (formerly known as medical records). Clinicians usually move into this area via on-the-job exposure, &/or advanced education in Clinical Informatics. Comment: What about healthcare management with say a minor in IT?I only ask because I might not have the desired credits for health informatics.I want to get certified in Epic billing.
