Competition in Clinic Jobs?

I am contemplating getting a BSN, but before I devote the time and money in it, I was wondering if there is high competition in a clinic setting as far as jobs go? I realize that many grads have to start out in less than desirable positions (which is expected in many jobs), but I suppose that some of those positions may be in reference to hospital related jobs? How many of you have had interest in going into a clinic to work, and is it something that will take years to achieve? I am trying to make sure that I am being realistic about things before I go back to college for a 2nd degree.

From what I have read on here recently, there is a greater number of nurses than what the general public is led to believe, and since there seems to be an overabundance of nurses according to some of you, I don't want to add to the problem.
I suppose it depends on the area but here clinics don't often hirer new grads. So until you have a year or two under your belt in either a hospital or LTC. Those day time, no weekend jobs don't go to the new people.

Thank you so much for the response! That's completely understandable.

Hello. I work in a urology clinic. I got the job about 1.5 years into being an RN. Right now I have an ADN not BSN. I started in a hospital (still work there per diem). In terms of getting the clinic job, it said BSN preferred but I applied anyways and got the job. The clinic has a nicer schedule than the hospital but I work 12 hour days at the clinic too. I find the clinic to be pretty monotonous in all honesty. I think if you find a specialty you really love however, this can help make the clinic more enjoyable for you. I think job competition and such truly depends on your location. Where I live (buffalo NY) I have had no issues.
