Making a difference.

9 I've been at my current job for about 8 months now. I love what I do but haven't really bonded with any of the nurses or staff. I pretty much keep to myself, do my job, rinse and repeat. Last night I had a very sick little patient who was going downhill before change of shift. I worked my tail off to stabilize her, and then the physician came up and asked what I had done for her and then asked what time I was on til. When I told him I was leaving at 7, he was disappointed I was leaving soon. He told me he's always glad when I have his sick patients, and that he can really relax knowing I'm taking care of them and they're always in good hands. I felt appreciated and like the work I do really can make a difference. I just wanted to share this because in most of our jobs there seem to be more bad days than good, but then moments will come along that remind you why you you're there to begin with.

Isn't it nice to know your hard work pays off and that you are appreciated... and for someone to actually tell you?! I've seen your posts around here for a few years and have no doubts that you are an awesome nurse!
