MDS 3.0 Question...

Hello Guys and Gals! I had a patient that came into the facility (SNF) on private pay hospice and they died in the facility 6 days later. What kind of assessment should be done. My nurse consultant said to do only a death in facility but the assessment turns red when i answer the question "yes" to "is this the first assessment". I dont know what I should do...it was too early to do an admission assessment and yet I dont have the option of doing an admission and death in the facility together. HELP!!!
i imagine it "turns red" because it is a legal liability that there was no assessment done prior to death. it is also confusing to me that an admission assessment had not yet been done? i would bring it up to your nurse manager again as it sounds like a situation where you're forced to mediate between bad practice and legal issues... either way, not a good situation! best of luck.xo
