Need help with a question?

Hi everyone, I have a question that i really need an answer to. I am in one of the online RN-BSN programs and wanted to know when I finish would I have to contact the BON to get certified for the BSN? Is it the same process when getting licensed. By the way I'm in California. Thanks a lot and happy holidays!
I don't think you have to do anything. If you hold an RN licence already your licence isn't going to be different. Your change from ASN to BSN doesn't change your RN license-- it's the same licence for both. The licenses aren't different.

Comment:
You earn the BSN degree from ur college/university and apply for an authorization to test from the BON to sit for the NCLEX and obtain ur RN license.

Quote from INDIGOSKYYou earn the BSN degree from ur college/university and apply for an authorization to test from the BON to sit for the NCLEX and obtain ur RN license.

Your license will not change a bit. If you're an RN, you're an RN. Matters not how you obtained your education: if you passed the NCLEX, you are an RN. No extra kudos/license benefits for having your BSN.

I would suggest that you read the Nurse Practice Act for California. It should answer all your questions

I graduated in 2009 with a FNP degree. I am currently working for a wellness center where we do not prescribe medication. Am I still able to prescribe as an liscensed ARNP? My friend said that she does by calling it in because she does not have a script pad. I currently also have an NPI number. Are there any other "numbers" I need in the state of Florida? Does anyone know if we are in the state of Florida if we need a DEA number since we are not prescribing medication?Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Lori
