Any nurses out there willing to be interviewed?

I need to interview soemone who is already professional in the career that im going to pursue. So any kind of nurse is fine. Its part of my assignment for english class which is to write an informative essay about nursing since I'm going to go into nursing. And because i have to use an interview as one of the source for the paper. Its not only for the paper but also to clear some of the things about this profession that I am confused about. Would someone be willing to give me their time? I'm only going to ask 10 questions and then youre just going to answer. Here are the questions;

1. What is your name?
2. What is your job title?
3. How long have you been in this field?
4. Are your duties what you expected when you were in school/college? If not, what did you expect and how your duties differ from those expectations?
5. What is the salary range for a position like yours (or your type of job)? What is the starting salary?
6. What advice would give someone who is interested in pursuing this profession?
7. What are the advancement possibilities in your chosen profession?
8. What is the most surprising thing about your job (i.e., things that most people wouldn't think of if they had to define this profession)?
9. What is the most exciting aspect of your job (the one thing you love the most)? And what is the most boring/tedious?
10.After you graduate from college, is there anything else you need to do to go into this profession(e.g., state boards, periodic course to update you in new technology, trends, etc.)? If so, how much time and money is typically spent on this?

Lady Voldemort, LPN staff nurse, nurse for 3 yrs., duties out in the workforce a lot better as a nurse than student nurse, salary approx. $35,000 per annum, my advice for someone pursuing this field to find out what the job market is like for nurses in your area, get not only a good foundation in nursing practice and skills, but also labor laws, personal finance, and how businesses operate. As an LPN, there really aren't any advancement opportunities in my area, but depends on the state and hiring market. The thing about my job that surprises me about the nursing field in general is how many of the management have gross personality disorders!!! Thus, a course in Abnormal Psych is beneficial. The most exciting thing about my job....well...there really aren't for me, I wouldn't call it boring either. Tedious, at times though!! After one graduates from nursing school...the NCLEX has to be taken to receive licensure. Some states like mine required continuing education hours....those are done through one's employer, nursing journal, online, etc..I spent approx. $3500 on obtaining LPN licensure, I would have been more if I hadn't been given a scholarship.

Anyone else remember high school? Quit flaming the poor kid. Yes, OP should talk to a nurse in person, but I know very few people who actually applied themselves in high school. I didn't and I could totally see myself doing something like this and then wondering why everyone flamed me. I don't think the brain completely develops until age 65 or something, right before it falls apart. Anyway, OP, you might like nursing, but we generally like to have people who really apply themselves in our field, so when you get to nursing school, you will want to step it up a bit. Also, we eat our young and I'm kinda hungry. PS. I still don't have the English language mastered. We keep plugging along...

No one (unless s/he is a VERY good friend or family member of the OP, and has no issues with that type of questions) will answer the salary question in real time, so asking questions on a forum maybe not such a bad idea. About literacy, so? Their spelling mistakes are so bad, that you are unable to comprehend what the OP has written, or do you prefer your nurse to be an English language teacher instead of a nurse?

To the OP: I'm not sure you will get much of a response here because you need to have made 15 posts in order to send private messages. There are members who are willing to help you, but they may be less likely to do so because they'll have to post their answers on a public forum. If someone clicks on the envelope icon, he/she can send you an email message and answer your questions. I'm sorry that you've had to put up with some unhelpful comments and I hope you do well in your assignment.

Also just to add you can receive pms if you have less than 15 posts and be able to read them you however can not reply to them until you have 15 or more posts.
