If you were hired PRN into a new speciality...

How long did they give you for orientation?
How many shifts a week did you work during orientation and were they flexible with your schedule if you had another job?

I have an interview next week for a PRN job in a speciality I've never worked in before so just curious what to expect and how long of an orientation I can reasonably ask for.
Every facility is different but generally they ask you to work full-time during orientation. The length of orientation depends on the specialty but it's usually at least a couple months and usually longer if a specialty unless you have lots of experience already. They can't work you prn during orientation or it could take a year to be ready to work on your own! They normally will put you with one preceptor who is working as part of the schedule so you'll most likely have to work when they are. These are just generalizations though so you'll just have to ask during your interview.

Comment:
I was hired PRN into a specialty but trained for 4 months full time.
