Can't get a hold of BRN

HI. I renewed my RN license for first time, and i received the renewal within 3 days! but as clumsy as i am, i lost it. So i mailed the duplicate request form, with the payment, and never heard back. this was 6 weeks ago =[ i have tried calling for the last 2 weeks but every time, it just says, "We are experiencing a high volume of calls, try again later." and hangs up on me. I even emailed them but no response back. AND my check was cashed out... so what else can i do to get a hold of the BRN?

well it's about 3 hours away, and it's just a simple question if someone would just pick up the phone and let me ask..

My state no longer issues cards but you can go on line and print out a proof of licensure. My BON has a site that you can log on to as a nurse and so you are getting info you are entitled to only. I would peruse the web site.

Thanks everyone for your input.. Well in California were still have cards.. I think I just might have to visit their office.

You know, I think I would also consider calling my state rep or senator and telling them I cannot get the BRN to call me back. The more I think about it, the more outrageous I think it is that it is so hard for you to get them to talk to you.

The California BRN is undergoing a hearing this Monday for a pending sunset. I imagine everyone in that office is running around collecting data and stressing out. Still, communication with the nurse constituency is important. If it's not an awful drive, an in-person visit may help.Good luck.

I thought of this thread when I saw this: http://allnurses.com/california-nurs...es-980048.htmlIt's really sad that y'all have some of the highest state income taxes in the nation, and what are you getting for it? A governing board that can't even seem to perform basic functions effectively and technologically looks to be a couple decades behind.

The BRN is overseen by the DCA and has no choice in most matters. They're in their Sunset Hearing right now and hopefully there will be changes made without us losing the entire institution.
