Convicted of murder as a teen and now a nurseRating: (votes: 0) My question is how does someone who has a murder conviction become an RN. I know that the person was tried as a juvenile and sentenced as one but don't they have to disclose this information to the BON? I'm trying to decide how I feel about this . . . . I can see some circumstances in which a murder is justified. For instance, my ex-boyfriend's aunt died in prison. She was convicted of murder for picking up a gun and shooting her husband while he was trying (somewhat successfully) to beat her to death with a baseball bat. I think the conviction was the result of a court-appointed attorney not being the better of the two attorneys who put that case before a jury. Had she not died in prison, I would have been OK with her continuing to practice as a nurse. If this guy was convicted as a juvenile, what were the circumstances? Did he kill the parent who was trying to beat him to death, rape him or prostitute him? The person who was molesting his sister? The priest who molested him? Murder is wrong. Self defense -- or defense of another -- isn't. But sometimes the juries return the wrong verdict. Not often, I'm hoping. I'd like to believe our justice system works. Comment:
Hmmm. I don't know the details of the case in question, so it's hard to comment. Was it self defense? You mentioned a made for TV movie. I wonder if I've seen it. Lol. I have no idea how they got their license, but you've certainly piqued my curiosity.

Correct, Ruby. We don't know the circumstances, and sometimes there are mitigating circumstances. Here are some convicted teen murderers who never actually killed anyone. How 4 teens became murderers without killing anyone

The person who committed the crime was a she and she did so because she was afraid the person she killed might tell her friends she was weird. She turned herself in a few months later but that was only because the cops told her that the polygraph she took showed she lied. The real names were not used in the movie.

If you find her real name please don't post it. I am just curious as to how she became a RN with her past history.

I looked at the link and am pretty sure I figured out which movie was made after this murder...wow this person should have never been licensed since she killed someone in cold blood, no accident or self defense
