Nurses: Social Life? What's a Social Life?

2 Sometimes it is hard to work during the week and on weekends and have any kind of social life when you are a Nurse. After a long day/night at work all you can think about is going home and vegging out in your fav chair. Who has time or energy for parties, a drink with friends at the local bar, or an extravagant date, movie, or dancing? How do you plan ahead and make the time to socialize?
you know you're a nurse when... you sit in a restaurant with a co-worker, talking shop and make the people at the table next to you throw up!

I'm here at work on the Memorial Day holiday. I'll be here all night long. Ah, perhaps I'll get to enjoy a nice holiday picnic with barbeque at the park one of these days, just like I did before I became a nurse. It is nice to reminisce.

I don't know…maybe have one during the other 4 days a week I don't work?

I really can't relate at all. I'm not sure what you're schedule is, but I work nights 7p-7a for 3 days a week, unless I pick up overtime. So usually I have 4 nights off a week, or even 3 if I do overtime.......plenty of time for a personal life. Unless you're working more than 3 or 4 12's a week, what's the problem? is 3 or 4 days/nights off a week not enough time to have a social life? Sure, the days/nights you work are consumed by work, but you still have the majority of the week off. I don't understand why this is such a problem for some nurses.
