CNA License Expired

I don't know where else to put this so I thought I would put it here.
I'm a pre-nursing student, and I had my CNA certification but I let it get expired. Does anyone know how to renew it? I know after the first semester of clinicals I could work as a CNA but that's still a year off for me and I don't think I want to wait that long.
Thanks
In most states you have to re-take the CNA licensure exams (practical and written)... basically you start all over.

WARNING WARNING....Beware some of the holders of licenses within these forums! They will jump at the chance to remind you that, as a CNA, you are not licensed to do anything. You only hold a certificate, you are an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel, you work under the umbrella of the license of the nurse who supervises you and as such, must remember your place in the pecking order. Does anyone love sarcasm as much as me???

I'm in Missouri. I found out its just inactive not expired and I just have to find a job that lets me work with an inactive certificate, that's the problem. No one wants to hire me with an inactive certificate even though its not technically expired for another 3 years.

In my state, I get taken off the registry after 2 years of no work. I would then have to retake the class and test.
