Please give me advice. (future nurse)Rating: (votes: 0) Congratulations on your achievements in a challenging situation. I also admire your fortitude.I think your questions should be asked to your counselors.. on each step of your journey.Make sure you get a complete answer. Most counselors are overworked and will blow you off..with minimal assistance .Nursing is VERY DIFFICULT to get into.. and the field is currently glutted.Do research regarding future nursing opportunities. Analyze your desire to become a nurse. Is it because your mother was? Do you see yourself at the bedside providing comfort?I have a genius IQ, a 3.9 GPA in high school, and a fantastic short term memory (biggest thing you need in nursing school).Because of that, it was not difficult for me to get into nursing school. It took everything I had to get through it.Good luck, keep us posted. Feel free to PM me. Comment: Why not apply to a regular college nursing program? If you're doing well in that list of classes, there's no reason you wouldn't be admitted. Nobody asks about your grade school or junior high on college apps.Comment: It depends on where you live and the schools in your area. I read on here that some people are on waiting lists and some get turned down because of not having perfect GPAs. Where I live it wasn't that hard. I did my prereqs for a year and started the nursing program the following semester. Good job on doing so well so far! Good luck!!Comment: Being in a nursing program or being a nurse both are very stressful, and please make sure that you can handle the stress. I do not think you will have a problem to get into the program since you can manage your GPA to 3.5. I believe there are some schools take you in, the only matter is when.Comment: You went from Special Education to Honors/AP classes. Look how far you've come! Try to focus on where you are now, and stay on the track that you're on academically.
