It's great when you realize you made the right choice!Rating: (votes: 0) Today during clinicals, we had a code. I participated by doing compressions, and bagging. After quite some time, we got the patient back. Needless to say, this was my first time at this, and what a rush! Driving home, it hit me that I was now doing something that I absolutely love!!!! Talk about the light coming on! ![]() That's awesome!! Congrats!! I'm seriously considering an lpn program come spring (jan)..what is the program like if you dont mind my asking?! Any advice?! With no patient care experience.. I wonder if i will freeze during a code!! Comment:
I totally relate. I went my entire way through a BSN program wondering if I was making the right decision. My sister had graduated several years before and was working at a nuclear power plant and begging me to come out and work with her. making far more money than I could ever dream about in nursing. Yet, I made it through the program hoping when I graduated to get a job in L&D. I made it through with a 3.95 average, and still I wasn't sure if it was my passion. I ended up taking the first offer I got on a med-surg unit, night shift. It was love at first sight. It was never what I thought I wanted to do but I look forward to going to work, I enjoy it, and its a perfect fit.

I came into this from the restaurant business. So, I had no medical experience. The program at the school I attend is VERY INTENSE!!! 8 hours of class, 8 hours of books, study all weekend!!! It;s alot of information at one time. But, if you really want to do it, it's all worth it...

That's great! I'm also 38 and went to nursing school after staying home with my kids for 10 years. All the way through I wondered if I could really do it. I'll be starting as an RN in less than 2 weeks and I can't wait! It's wonderful when doors open that you weren't quite sure would.

It's funny... but, I think I remember something similar to your title. It was a commercial about 20+ years ago? EXCEPT.... slogan was debating whether the RIGHT CHOICE WAS: PEPSI OR COKE?? OR, was it 7-UP or SPRITE??

Good for you! I switched from business to nursing at about your age as well, and am finishing up my 3rd year as a nurse now. Don't regret my decision for a second.

SWEET! I also did my LPN first because I wasn't sure nursing was for me and figured it would be a good way to start. I'm so happy I tried it and most days I can't believe I get paid for doing something I love so much.
