Looking for something other than the bedside.

I am currently a RN working in ICU. I love having the knowledge base of an ICU nurse and only working 3 12hr shifts, but I am getting burned out. Does anyone have any suggestions where I can still keep my 3 12hr shifts and do something less stressful? I have thought about dialysis. Does anyone know what their schedules are like? Any other suggestions? Help!
The odds of finding a non-direct care job with 12 hours shifts in pretty small. Basic rule - the inherent attractiveness of a job is inversely correlated to 'external' benefits such as scheduling/hours/salary. No employer ever pays MORE than necessary salary for any particular job because it just doesn't make good business sense. 12 hour shifts are used for bedside nursing because this is the only way to attract/retain staff - no one wants to do it 5 days a week- LOL! This is certainly not the case for more desirable jobs. If you can land that great job, you probably won't mind working more days a week because of all the other 'satisfiers' will make up for the change in your schedule.
