Resume helpRating: (votes: 0) I graduated from my BSN in 2011 and worked on an extended care floor for 1.5 years in a hospital. When applying for jobs many employers see the name of this floor and think "nursing home". On my resume I want to give specifics about the kinds of patients I cared for so employers see that it was hospital experience (even though it was a lower acuity). I am trying to get work on a floor with higher acuity (ortho, med/surg etc...) I feel like the wording is awkward at times and would appreciate some feedback. Here is my description of the floor I worked on: Professional Experience Hospital, State Staff Nurse, Extended Care and Rehab 2011-2013 Cared for patients with a wide variety of illnesses, including cancer, diabetes, post surgical, ortho, post-CABG, COPD, PTSD, recent amputees, complex wounds, TBI, post-CVA, and hospice. This unit had a typical patient to nurse ration of 4:1 on day shift. * Acquired and recorded patient information for admissions, discharges, progress notes, and continuing education * Prepared patients for appointments, and surgical and radiological procedures * Administered intravenous therapy via peripheral IVs and central lines * Operated a wide variety of devices including 12-lead EKG, wall suction, wound VAC, JP drain and hemovac, blood glucometer, SCD's, mechanical lifts, and bladder scanner Thanks for your help! 4 to 1 pt I will keep that job. |
