I would like to be a nurse in the entertainment industry...where to get started?

1 I am highly interested in being a nurse that works in the entertainment industry. I know nurses can work for sports teams, travel with musical/performing artists, and so much more. I do not want to be a traditional hospital nurse...I just feel like I do not fit in there. Any advice or suggestions on who I should contact? I am trying to research this idea as much as possible...

In the past when I have heard of such things, it was always through a personal referral. i.e., you know someone who knows someone, etc. What kind of experience do you have?
Move to Burbank, start networking. Get a job at Cedar Sinai or Providence st joes, start networking. Look your best at all times and act confident. Offer your services for free at first to build up references and clients. You need experience before you can do anything, so you will need to put in your time but at least I would go to hospitals that service people that work in the industry. Dont expect to get anywhere unless you know people.
I didn't know nurses worked for sports teams. I thought that's what athletic trainers were for.
TV/Movie sets often recruit paramedics over nurses because of their 'first responder' abilities - especially useful for when stunts go bad, but may also hire nurses. I believe when there are infants/children on the set a nurse (or medic) is required to be avail. Ooh, yeah, I would love more information on this as well. I always talk to my friends about working in the entertainment industry, but no one seems to know how to get a foot in.

like somebody said, best to move out here and get a job at the popular hospitals, Cedar's, UCLA, County-USC. I've worked a few travel jobs in the LA area and ran in to a few nurses that did side stuff, couple guys did some extra's work on ER things like that. I worked at Downey regional and at the time one of the ER docs was starting up a production company and since I left (2006) I've seen him and a few other docs/nurses in training films at different hospital orientations. Also have seen 2 episodes of those Trauma-true life things that had 2 of the docs that worked there. I don't know if any are still around there but who knows. But best thing to do is move, get a job and get your feet on the pavement.Oh, and probably best to work in the ER, see a lot more people that way.
Try stage hands unions - they often hire EMT's and sometimes RN's for sets. It involves getting an "IN" to, and joining, a union.

I do know that "HawthoRNe" had a "nurse consultant" that gave advice on medical procedures, language, etc. Scrubs magazine had an article about it about a year ago. You may be able to find it on their website. www.scrubsmag.com
