What is a LPN/LVN salary?

I am currently a MA and I started off making 10/hr, and after 5 years increased to 17.88/hr. I am sure that has alot to do with me having a 2 hour commute to work including the toll bridge, but anyways I am now going into Nursing, and someone said "why would u want to do that they only make 20/hr. thats about what you make now. Why would u want to spend that money, and time into going to school for a $2 dollar raise?" Is that true?

She has issues with me and not such a great friend, so I wasnt sure if she was being sincere or just not trying to see me suceed.

Is there a certain direction I should go into as far as what department in Nursing as a LVN? I am planning to further my education as a Nurse, but as a LVN for now what do I do? This is my dream
Highly depends upon your state and facility.I know LPNs that make $16 and LPNs that make $36.

What state are you in ? I know some LPN's and all they make is between 11.00 and 14.00 an hour. It does depend on what state you are in.

I actually think your friend is right, LPNs don’t make that much more than a CNA. Just to ask why are you not considering an RN? Many more doors to go through and opportunities for advancement. just my two cents

if you aren't already in lvn school, why not consider a two year adn program instead? you will have a great many more opportunites open to you down the road.

I am in California. My plan is to one day move to Nevada, but right now I live in California. I am planning to go into the bridge program after school. The smartest thing would have to go to a ADN program. I know it would have saved me ALOT more money, but everytime I was in school I always had something come up that I had to stop going so every semester I kept trying again. I got accepted into a private college and I have my AS degree in science. My plan is to go into the bridge program and get my RN license and then BSN, then my MSN. I have plans but I am going through LPN first
