Should I go ahead and get "RN" engraved after my name whenRating: (votes: 0) I'm currently an LPN, but as long as no catastrophes occur in the next 10 weeks, I'll be an RN very soon. I figure if I order the scope I want now, I might as well get it engraved for free. I'd rather not send it back in to the company later for engraving (if they'll even let you do that). What do you think? i'm rediculously superstishous (yes I killed that spelling) so I would say don't order it yet... cuz if you order it with out RN jinx order it with RN jinx... so just wait till you pass them order away!!! Congrats BTW for being almost done Comment:
I absolutely refused to get my stethoscope tag engraved with the RN until I knew I'd passed the NCLEX for sure. I guess that makes me superstitious!

Now see...I would say go for it lady! You are going to pass and be an RN! Get your stethoscope engraved!

I would do it, I think by looking at it and seeing RN after your name on something it would give you hope on completing. I know it is silly but I wrote RN and my name on the bathroom mirror after taking a shower and now everytime I take a shower it shows up. It may be simple but it is hopeful and confident that you can do it.

I say wait till you pass your boards. I guess that makes me superstitious, too.

I've learned not to test the IV gods, the catheter gods, the scheduling gods and most of all, the testing gods. You never walk in a room with only 1 IV catheter, you walk in with 2 so you don't need 2. And never d/c a good IV until someone is walking out the door, or they'll need that IV. Same with cathing a woman, take 2 in the room, or the only one you took will absolutely go in the vagina. Never count on being called off, because half the hospital will call in to work and you'll definitely have to come in. And engraving a stethoscope? Oh heck no, until I had my RN license in my hot little hand. I could have the head of the board of nursing tell me that I passed the NCLEX, but until I got that license in my hand, I wouldn't put RN on ANYTHING!

My husband got a stethoscope engraved for me while I was in school which included RN on it. I was nervous to wear it, but I graduated (as valedictorian I might add) & I know living up to the words on my stethescoped helped. I would do it.

I'm not terribly superstitious, but I wouldn't do it either. Here's an idea - why not get a cheapy stethoscope now since you need one right now, and then get your engraved one once you know for sure you're an RN! I've seen cheap ones for 12 bucks, unless your money's really tight (which would be totally understandable), that's probably what I would end up doing. And congrats on almost being done!!
