Teaching Methodologies that Work - Turning Teaching into Learning

I guess what you have said very academically is that teaching is an art. The educator must be skillful in employing every methodology available to him. One thing you left out was passion. The best teachers have it in spades and it serves to motivate, inspire and enlighten their students. With passion learning becomes fun and almost effortless.

I would add it is important to understand your students. What type of learning style did these students have? Where they active or reflective, global or sequential. It is amazing that we have a plethora of learning style measurement tools out there and fail to use them because it "takes too much time" when it can be an extremely useful piece of information about students, what teaching methods work best for those students, and furthermore, how to assign them into groups by learning style to help them advance academically.

So, how could I make studying chemistry (at home) more exciting?
