How Nurses Can Combat Inequality

2 I am a nursing student and ever since sociology I have been shocked by inequality in the United States particularly. We are going over a unique on racial disparaties in healthcare and I am just wondering how we, as nurses, can help combat these disparaties & inequality for the poor in general. Do you think public health nursing would be a good field to go into for someone interested in this kind of work or adovacy?
If you are interested in the disparities in healthcare, public health nursing is definitely the way to go or community health nursing which is a type of public health nursing. You can even get a master's in public health. Good luck to you. We need more people to treat our underserved populations.

Yes I agree community/public health is a great place to start. Then perhaps moving up to some type of upper mgmt job within government or large hospital system. Good Luck to you.

Thank you I recently learn that one of our clinical sites is at a homeless shelter so I think I am going to see if this is something I'd like and a place to start.
