Agency Nurses

When you work for a facility as a agency nurse, even if it is only one time, your agency faxes over a booklet about you, containing all your credentials, test, etc. Does anyone out there know what all they fax over and why? I saw a file about me in the nurse manager's office when I was an agency nurse there and was wondering what is in it and why? HELP.
Mikerinhouston:Many times, prudent Institutions require documentation of a Professional's license, training areas, cetifications, qualifications, etc. There have been incidents where Institutions have been caught with their proverbial pants down due to employing Professionals without assuring their credentials.It's also good for specialzation placement.Dave

I'm not familiar with everything that's included in this situation, but at least some of it is required by JCAHO, the same as if you were a permanent employee.

If it was me I certainly would ask my boss and want to see what it is that is faxed.

nothing wrong in asking. We require license # (although we check online for status), CPR and other certs, work history, drug screen and background screen results, TB and vaccine info and competencies. If JC comes by and traces a patient you cared for we need to be able to show the same data as if you were an employee. We do not do credit checks.
